I love that Leah loves to spend time with Elizabeth making her feel all grown up. She makes Elizabeth so happy!

When Leah asked me to do a sock bun in her hair for church today we all laughed at how large it turned out. But she got loads of compliments so I decided to do Elizabeth's and Leah did mine.

Daniel doesn't like riding in the car day or night. Night is worse and he asks for the lights on.  But Elizabeth's hand is better than the brightest light. This melted my heart.

We live in a society that defines good parents as opportunity providers. We get our children involved in many things hoping it will help them to be well-rounded people. We also tend to equate "down" time as loss of productivity and effectiveness. Ironically, research shows that family "down" times do more to rejuvenate and inspire humans than involvement in numerous extracurricular activities. Down time can provide priceless spontaneous family connections that happen as we dream, imagine, and invent things to do together. 

No marks!

Benjamin had a great week in class...no marks...so for his prize he wanted to go to Orange-leaf yogurt. After testing birthday cake and coconut and blueberry and maybe some others he decided on pineapple. On top he laid two  lonely sour patch kids. After trying the first he said he was glad he didn't put more because they were stale from sitting out all day. Keep up the great work, Benjamin!

Quiet man

He was so quiet the other morning when I  was getting dressed I became worried, especially when I kept calling his name with no response. No wonder, he was in deep concentration.

Great game on Saturday! Two of Paul's alma maters: byu and uh.  We took the oldest three and had an absolute blast! At first Leah was bored but it wasn't the boring type of game. There's Isaac on the front row with his friend spencer. 

Ymca trunk or treat

Rain didn't stop the fall festival. Daniel stripped off his costume down to his skin part way through and jumped in puddles. Elizabeth found her friends aya and tala. Benjamin and Isaac played basketball inside after doing the rounds and Paul brought pizza. 

Random

Leah all dressed up for breast-cancer awareness day at school.

Daniel wants to take bubble baths every day and the kids often like to get in with him.

I pulled off the cloth to check if these were done rising and I found that Daniel had tested each loaf.

Isaac has skills for getting free food at Taco Bell. He has plenty of change to drop in the container and if it lands on any platforms before hitting the bottom he gets free stuff. Two days in a row he scored.

Paul came home sick today with aches and Daniel has diarrhea. Isaac is happily listening to 30 clues. Leah wants to stay home from school to clean her room, do homework, and read. Benjamin had a pack meeting tonight and I made grilled cheese sandwiches and bean and bacon soup that nobody ate. I went running with Elizabeth this morning and took a nap today because Paul and I stay up waaaay too late! Elizabeth wants to play with friends everyday after school and it actually helps when she has friends here because Daniel is so happy.

Little joys

I watched Isaac practice basketball with his ymca team. Isaac will play basketball for hours at a time. 

Leah and I did t25 together for a workout right before bed. Elizabeth snuck down and by the end of the workout was doing everything with us. I loved watching her do the kicks!

At bedtime I crawled inside the teepee with Benjamin and read to him from Uncle Arthur, a book my mom used to read to me. 

I met Elizabeth at the bus and we ran home, laughing together, in the rain. 

Daniel went poop in his little potty for the first time!

Per 4th of July

Leavitts came over to make and decorate cupcakes. 

But first we had some vacuuming to do. 

Later on Leah and mom babysat for the hickenlooper's.

In between it all there was plenty of swimming, basketball, dog training and eating.
